A family of four wanted to untangle a confusing ranch-style layout and add a flexible secondary suite that can serve as a guest room and home office. The addition and exterior updates give the low rooflines and plain elevations a clearer presence, using modern Spanish influence to add warmth, proportion, and character from the street. Inside, the kitchen, dining, and living areas were opened up to improve flow, and new, larger openings strengthen the connection to the yard with more light and easier indoor-outdoor living.
